Bedding plants are defined as easy to grow plants that complete their life cycle from seed germination to maturity in a single growing season and then die. Most bedding plants quickly produce a mass of colour, primarily in Spring, Summer or early Autumn (depending on the variety!) and are therefore ideally suited for transforming an otherwise dull border in a very short period of time. Like all things in this life "you get what you pay for!" The cheapest plants are those grown from seeds. Plants produced in this way will not be identical to the parent plant or to other plants from the same batch of seeds. The very best bedding plants have been specially bred, (the price may include a royalty payment to the breeder) and to make certain that the young plants are identical to the original, they have been produced from cuttings taken from the parent plant.
