Mistletoe

Mistletoe is a parasitic plant that grows on the branches of trees - commonly Apple, Blackthorn, Hawthorn, Lime, Poplar, Rowan or Willow.  It feeds by tapping into the sap of its host.  Mistletoe has been held in high esteem for centuries for its supposed medicinal and magical properties.  Druids used the plant as an aphrodisiac and in Scandinavian tales it symbolises peace and love.  The custom of kissing under the mistletoe is thought to derive from a Norse myth which decreed that no harm should befall anyone standing beneath the plant - and that they should thereafter only receive tokens of affection.

Poinsettias

Poinsettias are one of the most popular and we always have a huge range of specialist varieties - in many colours - for you to choose from! Beware of cheap Poinsettias sometimes sold in supermarkets - they have often been stored on a lorry/ferry for a couple of days and won't be in the same condition as plants fresh from the nursery. You should also check the number of flower heads and the pot size.
