Siting your nest box

Nest boxes of the same type should not be sited too close together as this can promote aggressive behaviour between birds.
A nesting site must provide a safe and comfortable environment, make sure that it is not accessible to cats and that it is angled down so the rain will not penetrate.
The direction that the box entrance faces makes relatively little difference for the majority of species, provided that it is sheltered from the prevailing wind, rain and strong sunlight; a garden suntrap may not be suitable for nesting birds.
